Wishnick
Hall was named in honor of Robert I. Wishnick, in recognition
of his leadership and support to the university and
the institutional development program. He and his company,
Witco Chemical, made a significant donation to the building
in the early 1960s. Mr. Wishnick, CHE graduate 1914,
received the Alumni Association's Alumni Service Award
in 1953 and was selected Outstanding Alumnus in 1963;
he was elected to the Board in 1936.

Creating a Digital Media Center
Working with faculty, Holabird and Root, and IIT's Community
Development Department, IIT's Office of Institutional
Advancement has expanded on the core program to create
the concept of the Digital Media Center. The center
will provide a digital, interactive learning environment
for both IIT students and younger students from the
communities surrounding the university. It will also
house the Department of Computer Science and IITV, the
university's distance learning technologies operation.
To
accommodate these new learning technologies, the building
will require significant interior modification, which
will likely include reconfiguring space and creating
new classrooms while fully integrating new communications
and computing technology into classrooms and offices.
The building requires updating to meet 21st century
standards and accessibility modifications to comply
with recent ADA requirements. Because Wishnick Hall
is similar in construction and scale to both Siege and
Perlstein halls, its renovation will yield important
information about the cost and complexity of renovating
these other Mies core academic buildings to be restored
during Phase II of the project.
