Main Campus Master Plan: State and 33rd Streets

Project Summary

Discussions between IIT and the City of Chicago began in the summer of 1998 to develop plans for the transformation of the streetscapes of the principal city streets as they cross the campus. Under a joint working agreement, Peter Lindsay Shaudt was engaged by the city to develop the drawings and specifications for the landscaping and street changes. These designs were created jointly by Schaudt and Michael Van Valkenburgh as part of IIT's landscaping master plan.

On November 5, 1998, IIT presented the proposed landscaping changes to the City's Landscaping Committee and won approval.

As of Today
Street reconfiguration and landscaping complete.
Monumental signage was installed in fall 2002.
